This summer marked one year since we opened Tech Row, a co-working space and innovation hub in downtown Birmingham. What started as a vision has become so much more: a vibrant center for startup founders, accelerator teams, investor conversations, and ecosystem energy.
As we reflect on this first year, we want to share what we’ve been up to and what’s ahead. This journey reaffirms why we started Tech Row, and inspires us for what’s next.
Where We Started
Tech Row was born out of Bronze Valley’s mission to empower entrepreneurs—not just with capital, but with connection, programming, tools, and community. We set out to create more than a workspace: we wanted a place where early-stage founders could plug in, learn, build, and scale, surrounded by peers, mentors, and opportunity. And we wanted the space to be conveniently located, setting our sights on the downtown Birmingham location (at 9 20th Street North, corner of Morris Avenue), walkable to amenities, restaurants, and other business resources.
Summer Snapshot!
Since opening the space, we’ve hosted several events that brought the community together to share, connect, and learn. Here’s just a snapshot of what summer looked like at Tech Row!
“The Unfiltered Founder” (Aug 26): An interactive fireside chat that creates a safe, honest space for founders to share the emotional and mental challenges of entrepreneurship. Moderated by Sierra Peña, the Managing Director of our Bronze Valley Investment Accelerator, the discussion featured four founder perspectives:
- Dr. Stevens Bonhomme (CEO of Feedcoyote)
- Paula Guevara (CEO at Bilinci)
- Gabriel Marrero (CEO at Yosubi)
- Jay Johnson (CEO at Prep Intel)
Not only was the conversation highly interactive, but founders in the room really leaned into authenticity and vulnerability, creating a truly open dialogue about the highs, lows, and in-between of entrepreneurship.
“Brew & Connect” (July 8): A casual community meetup designed to bring together founders, creatives, and changemakers over coffee. This event created an easy, low-barrier way for startup founders, small business owners, community builders, and local professionals interested in innovation to discover Tech Row, connect authentically, and start conversations that could lead to future collaborations.
This is just the beginning.
Tech Row has not just been a physical space, but a signal: that ecosystem builders, investors, and entrepreneurs are serious about seeing innovation growth in Alabama. The space has helped anchor Birmingham’s startup scene and helped bring new energy (and attention) to what’s possible here. This is just the beginning, and we’re excited for what’s to come.
